Cambridge Who's Who member Michael Robert Frank
Cambridge Who's Who member Michael Robert Frank has made major achievements in the music management profession.
Frank first started taking an interest in blues music during junior high school when he began playing the harmonica. After graduating from college, Frank moved from Pittsburgh to Chicago to practice social work. While in Chicago, he frequented blues bars, where he met numerous blues musicians and discovered that the blues music industry was underrepresented when it came to booking gigs and recording music.
Located in Chicago, Illinois, Earwig Music Company evolved from a friendship started in 1972 between Frank and David "Honeyboy" Edwards, one of the last original acoustic Delta blues players. From 1972 to 1976, Frank and Honeyboy became close friends with Frank booking performances for the two of them. Frank then formed the Honeyboy Edwards Blues Band in 1976, booking gigs for the band all over Chicago. Thanks to Frank, Honeyboy's career has evolved from local blues musician to international musician and celebrity. Since 2005, Frank has devoted all of his time to music and has toured with Honeyboy around the world.
When Frank founded Earwig Music Company in 1978 he started recording Honeyboy and other artists including Sunnyland Slim, Kansas City Red, Floyd Jones and Big Walter Horton. He also booked and managed Jim Brewer, who played guitar, until he passed away in May 1989. Since its founding, Earwig Music Company has released 40 blues CDs, 52 blues, jazz, gospel and storytelling recordings and has produced several concerts and tours. It also solicits movie, television and advertising opportunities for the music it publishes. For more information about the Earwig Music Company, visit http://www.earwigmusic.com.
Frank is a licensed clinical social worker. He received a master of social work from George Williams College, Aurora University in 1982 and a bachelor of arts in social relations from Lehigh University in 1972. He is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and sits on the advisory board of The Blues Foundation. His significant contributions to the blues music industry earned him a Keeping the Blues Alive Award from The Blues Foundation in 2008. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, camping and spending time outdoors.
Michael Robert Frank joined Cambridge Who's Who as an Associates Program member in June 2007. Cambridge Who's Who offers its members recognition and exposure of their accomplishments, credibility in their field and networking opportunities to stimulate career growth. Frank was selected for the Cambridge Who's Who Notable Member Wiki because of his remarkable achievements in the music industry.
