Tobias Ritter, Ph.D., MBA is a distinguished assistant professor of chemistry at Harvard University. He is reputable among faculty, staff and students for his professionalism and wealth of knowledge. Since 2008, has become a renowned lecturer, traveling around the world to give lectures to students, faculty and other chemistry professionals.

Dr. Ritter provides quality and comprehensive undergraduate and graduate education to his students, whom he firmly supports as they strive for academic advancement by creating aluable teaching methods. Aside from his remarkable achievements in higher education, Dr. Ritter contributes tremendously to the field of chemistry research as well. His interests include synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry; the development of new synthetic methods based on transition metal catalysis; Molecular Imaging by Positron Emission Tomography; and stereoselective synthesis of biologically active natural and unnatural products. He heads a research program based on synthetic organometallic and organic chemistry, and feels that his biggest triumph to date is – through his research – clarifying the conception of carbon fluorine bonds from transition metals. His continued efforts in transition metal-mediated conversions stem from his aspirations to leave a positive and instantaneous impression on humanity. Additionally, Dr. Ritter believes that particular problems that are geared toward the medical field can be solved using chemistry. For instance, the positron emission tomography (PET) imaging technique could serve as a valuable solution for medically related tribulations..

Dr. Ritter started as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University in July 2006. Originally from Germany, he received a master of science from Braunschweig University, Germany in 1999, after completing coursework in Braunschweig, Bordeaux, and Lausanne. After finishing his studies abroad, Dr. Ritter attended Stanford University, where he fulfilled a year-long tenure with celebrated professor Barry M. Trost. He later moved to ETH Zürich to pursue doctoral studies in a group directed by Professor Erick M. Carreira on the total synthesis of the natural product Resiniferatoxin and new cholesterol absorption inhibitors. Dr. Ritter earned his Ph.D. in 2004, and began as a postdoctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology with Professor Robert H. Grubbs. Cambridge Who's Who
