Cambridge Who's Who Member Polly Bukta

Cambridge Who's Who Member, Polly BuktaCambridge Who’s Who Executive of the Year, Polly Bukta, has served the United States as a State Representative for the State of Iowa since 1996. Born on April 3, 1937, in Greenville, PA, Bukta desires to create solid policies that provide a better life for the people of Iowa. Prior to serving on the Iowa House of State Representatives, Bukta was vice-chair of the Clinton County Democrats.

Bukta serves on the Education Committee, Legislative Council Committee, Local Government Committee, Subcommittee on Studies, Transportation Committee and Veterans Affairs Committee. She and her colleagues evaluate, exchange views on and hear from constituents about the merits of bills that are brought to Congress, and then vote on the laws which affect the lives of Iowa residents.

A retired educator of 37 years, Bukta worked as a teacher in the Clinton Community School District. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and French from Mercyhurst College, Erie, PA in 1962 and is a retired educator of 37 years. She is a member of the American Association of University Women, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Clinton Women's Club, Clinton City Chamber of Commerce, Delta Kappa Gamma and National Education Association. In 2005, Bukta was recognized with a JAG Award for being an advocate in the Iowa legislature on behalf of Iowa-JAG, Inc. She is also available for public speaking on education and careers for American graduates.

In her spare time, Bukta enjoys traveling, gardening, watching football and basketball and spending time with her husband, Michael, and their two sons and grandson.

Polly Bukta joined Cambridge Who’s Who as a Gold member in February 2006 and has been recognized as an Executive of the Year in both 2007 and 2008.
