Nancy A. Higley, Ph.D. Nancy A. Higley, Ph.D. is the vice president of food safety and regulatory affairs at PepsiCo, Inc., and a recently-named Cambridge Who’s Who Executive of the Year in Scientific and Regulatory Affairs. She is revered as an authority and expert in the industry – an exemplary leader responsible for numerous strategic developments and prolific research.

Dr. Higley is in charge of leading global food safety and regulatory strategies to ensure PepsiCo products are compliant with the established international policies and regulations; she also represents the company by sitting on key institutional boards, which include the International Life Science Institute, the International Organization of Flavor Industry, the Calorie Control Council and the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute. Dr. Higley also acts on behalf of PepsiCo on the boards of the International Association of Color Manufacturers and the Johns Hopkins Center for Alternative Animal Testing. In order to address the safety evaluation and risk management of food-borne toxins, she established the WWTO strategy on Safety and Regulatory Compliance, which includes policies, procedures, standards and systems. She has authored and published 20 articles, and has additionally lectured and presented scientific papers at a variety of national and international meetings. She was a guest lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Masters of Public Policy and Administration program.

Dr. Higley has accumulated over 20 years of professional experience in her field, and is well-cultured having earned a post-doctorate in toxicology from the Food Research Institute at the University of Wisconsin. She also received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire in 1978, and a bachelor of science in biology from SUNY Fredonia in 1974. She credits her success to her ability to integrate her past experiences and vast knowledge of biology, biochemistry and toxicology, and apply them to current situations. Aside from her passionate pursuit of professional growth, Dr. Higley enjoys reading the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry and the Journal of the American Chemical Society, and working on chemistry and food technology.

Dr. Nancy A. Higley was selected as a Cambridge Who’s Who Executive of the Year in Scientific and Regulatory Affairs in February 2008.
