Cambridge Who's Who Member Keith Downer
Cambridge Who’s Who lifetime member, Keith O. Downer, has made significant strides in the finance industry with professional experience at some of the top financial companies in the United States. Downer is currently the senior vice president of Citi Global Wealth Management (GWM), one of the four major segments of Citigroup. As senior vice president, Downer is the independent operational risk manager for GWM’s operations and technology, legal, compliance and human resources divisions. He is also responsible for overseeing loss-data collection activity within GWM and ensuring the consistent implementation of operational risk, RCSA and Base II AMA protocols within all wealth management businesses.
Prior to joining GWM in 2006, Downer held a variety of other positions in risk management and consulting, most recently as the director of operational risk for American Express. He also served in several senior management positions, including as chief executive officer and general manager of the Caribbean Credit Card Corporation, where he worked directly with Caribbean heads of state and finance ministers; associate senior manager at KPMG Barbados and managing director at Giantloop. Downer has more than 15 years of leadership experience and has served in senior consulting roles on engagements with Lehman Brothers, State Street Bank, AIG, Chase, several other Fortune 500 companies and the Barbados Industrial Development Corporation.
Citi GWM is comprised of three well-respected wealth management branches: Citi Private Bank, Citi Smith Barney and Citi Investment Research. Citi Private Bank is one of the largest private banking businesses in the world with offices in more than 30 countries. Citi Smith Barney focuses on private wealth management and serves 8.9 million clients worldwide. Citi Investment Research is a highly esteemed research unit with 20 locations worldwide consisting of more than 300 financial analysts.
Downer holds an executive master of business administration from Columbia University (2004) and a bachelor of science in computer science and mathematics (1989) from the University of the West Indies.
